On November 5, the Greeneville Appreciation Dinner was held at the Divine Providence Church assembly room in Greeneville, Norwich.
According to Reverend Christopher Rogalski, he enjoys the community congregating and talking. The Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) and the church worked together to put on the dinner and honor the five major contributors of the community. Local officials came and before the turkey dinner, attendees mingled with cocktails.
Democratic representative Kevin Ryan agrees that the event is essential for the community, recognizing those who go above and beyond for their neighborhood. This year, the honorees have contributed to the community in their own way, he added.
Norwich Police Sargent Peter Camp helped to improve community law enforcement, while Norwich Fire Chief Kenneth Scandariato has been head of the department for over a decade. Scandariato attributed his success to his equally capable team and found it hard to believe he had been recognized in this way.
John Kozak has been active in the education system for 30 years and was the Greeneville School principle. John Buzenski, who served in WWII and the Korean War, was also surprised by the honor since his age has prevented him from being active. Finally, Leader Stores has donated thousands to the community and given the community new life.
Organizations like the NRZ often hire a printing company to make certificates and plaques for honorees, then get them signed by local officials.
