The Otis Library in Norwich will be holding a lecture in December where guests can learn more about creating herb gardens.
Let’s Spice Things Up: Plant Your Own Herb Garden is a program that teaches attendees how to make thriving herb gardens at home. Jan Mallett will be the instructor for the gardening course and will go over important tips such as proper planting techniques and how to avoid killing plants. Mallett will also talk about the ways people may use their herbs. Guests will be given the necessary materials for planting their personal herb gardens.
Mallett is a certified Master Gardener who has more than 40 years of experience with growing veggies and flowers in Northeast Connecticut. She works as a Garden Business Coach and is currently a student at the Kitchen Garden Academy. Mallett offers several services, like plotting garden designs and creating planting charts. It costs $150 to book a one-hour consultation with Mallett. Those who provide professional services like these can make Business Cards to hand over to consumers.
The gardening lesson will take place on Saturday, December 11 from noon to 2:00 pm. The program is free for all guests, though people must register for Mallett’s course. Face coverings are expected to be worn by patrons while inside the library. People who want to learn more about Mallett’s services can find more info on her website.
