The Norwich Building Tomorrow Foundation (NBTF) and The Evening Sun are working together to present the Home Beautification Contest, with winners to be announced later in the year.
The goal of the competition is to reward citizens of Norwich who work toward keeping the city clean and making it a good place to live.
Smith Ford Norwich popularized Home Beautification contests around three decades ago, and they were designed to instill and support pride in owning a home by rewarding the best renovations to houses. This contest will have a similar framework.
The NBTF and The Evening Sun are trying to bring back the tradition because it was successful and it will help promote residential improvements throughout the city. The Evening Sun's publisher, Richard Snyder, expressed excitement in working with the NBTF for the contest. The paper supports it’s the foundation’s mission to make Norwich the ideal community, and the foundation was keen to work with the paper.
Winners of the contest will be disclosed in October. Judges will only consider remodels to the exterior of the home. The model criteria include major improvements to both the house and the community overall, such as paint, doors, shutters, lighting, siding, roofing, windows, and landscaping. One beautifications like this have been completed, those involved often turn to flyer and brochure printing to highlight what they have done.
