Earlier this month, over 30 firefighters were recognized by the Norwich Fire Department at an award ceremony for their service to the community.
Kenneth Scandariato, the Norwich Fire Chief, stated that he felt the need to honor the firefighters because they are not recognized enough for their service to the city, and the risks they take to save lives in emergency situations. The city now has a chance to show its gratitude through the ceremony.
There were a total of 33 awards in three areas: the Unit Citation of Valor, the Life Saving Citation, and the Meritorious Citation. The awards spanned six occasions when the department demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment.
The Unit Citation of Valor, which is the greatest acknowledgement for an event, was given to an incident in 2016 when a fire broke out in Summit Woods Drive. A propane tank filled with 18,000 gallons was the course, and it could have exploded and caused more damage.
According to Battalion Chief Tracy Montoya, who received the award for his supervision of the fire, the incident could have taken out a city block, but the firefighters did their job perfectly. He stressed that he was part of a group of firefighters doing their duty, and expressed pride in his team.
Personalized awards are something a Print company can make for an organization.
