Financial help at hand for Norwich student

This month, there will be a free seminar on student debt hosted by Three Rivers Community College in Norwich.

‘Yes, You Can Afford College and Minimize Student Debt’ will start at. The seminar will last for 40 minutes, with 20 minutes for questions and answers will follow. Resources guides – perhaps made by a local Print shop – will be available for anyone who attends.

Individuals, who are thinking of going to college whether at a public or private institution for a two- or four-year degree, are welcome. Topics covered will include minimizing student debt, simplifying financial aid, finding loans and scholarships, tax deductions, and creating a budget for college. The hosts will go over FAFSA and tax Forms while using real examples.

According to the organizers of the seminar, principals, teachers, parents, and counselor are also encouraged to attend. They added that college is affordable for everyone and many students can go to college free of charge, or completely rid themselves of student debt.

Many of the presenters specialize in finance including experts in taxes and financial aid such as Edwin Muenzer and Kenneth Briggs. Muenzner is a certified public accountant, accounting professor at Three Rivers Community College, and owner of his own firm. Kenneth Briggs is the financial aid acting director at the community college with nearly two decades of experience in the subject.

The workshop takes place at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 13.
