Author to present at Norwich library

The Otis Library in Norwich will be inviting an accomplished writer and photographer to give a presentation in November.

Ceremonial Stonework: The Enduring Native American Presence on the Land is an in-person lecture taught by Markham Starr. The program will include a slideshow that shows visual examples of stone pieces left behind by New England’s indigenous population. Several structures created by Native Americans can be seen during the presentation, such as stone serpent effigies and cairns. Face masks are necessary for viewers at the event.

Markham Starr is an experienced documentary photographer whose goal is to use his skills to preserve local cultures that are disappearing. His pieces have been featured in many notable publications, like LensWork, Rhode Island Monthly, and Yankee Magazine. Starr’s past Books include Down on the Farm, Against the Tide, On Oceans of Grey, and End of the Line. Writers such as this can connect with agents and interested readers by giving them Business Cards.

The presentation will be held at the Otis Library Community Room on Wednesday, November 3rd from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There is no admission fee to watch Starr’s lecture, though guests must register to reserve a seat. The program will have limited seating. People interested in the other works completed by Starr can find his current collection of Books on his website.
