Alternative medicine included in nursing practices

A holistic medicine conference for registered nurses will be held next month. All Connecticut based nurses, including those from Madison, Norwich, New Haven and Middletown are invited to attend.

The fourth annual conference will be presented by the Connecticut Chapter of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) in collaboration with St. Vincent’s Medical Centre. The theme for the 2021 conference will be: “Evolving Nursing Through Holistic Practice”.

The one-day convention will include workshops on building an alternative medicine nursing practice, herbalism, plant-based nutrition, naturopathic medicine and relationship building with patients. Alternative methods of healing, including drumming and sound therapy will also be explored.

This year’s special guest speaker will be Jan Lucier, MSN RN HNB-BC CCAP. Lucier has been a registered nurse for more than 30 years. Currently she is teaching Community Health and Mental Health nursing skills at Elms College.

The conference will be an opportunity for nurses to connect with each other, share ideas and renew their spirits in a healing atmosphere.
