This winter, Milford’s gardeners are invited to prepare for the upcoming season by registering for an online learning event.
Master Gardener Racheal Ziesk will be welcoming the public for a series of six classes, and those who would like to take part can choose to participate in whichever ones are of interest to them. They will all take place online, and principles of organic gardening will be emphasized.
The workshops will address a variety of issues related to home vegetable horticulture, and these range from the importance of having a healthy soil to seed starting. A variety of ways of extending the number of growing days will be discussed, as will choosing which crops to grow in which season. The series will wrap up with a session that will introduce the participants to an assortment of common weeds, including invasive species and ones that can be beneficial or even edible.
Each of these virtual sessions will be on offer for free, and the public is welcome to register for the ones they feel will be most useful to them. Even though activities like these may be hosted online, the participants often still benefit from having some “hard copy” learning materials. A brochure printing company will be able to help, and it can meet with the organizers to discuss their needs and budget.
The Organic Vegetable Gardening series will run throughout February and March. Anyone who would like to register is asked to do so through its online listing.
