Many Milford residents relish feeding wild birds, but may not be able to identify the species they see. An upcoming class can change that, hosted by The Connecticut Audubon Society.
The assembled group of learners who register for the workshop will find out how easy it can be to identify their feathered friends. This can be important information, as knowing what birds live in an area can help bird lovers to choose the right sorts of food to attract them.
Tricia Kevalis, who works with the Society, will be the host for the event, and she will teach how to ID backyard birds using sight and sound. They will also explore their feeding and other habits, how to locate a bird feeder, seed and suet selection, and how to choose the right bird feeder. There will be samples of feeders on hand for the group to investigate, and there’s no cost to take part.
While a comprehensive field guide can be one of a birder’s most important tools, not everyone has one of these publications. Print shops can supply everything from simple field guides to ID cards for local bird species, and these can be given to each member of the public who attends a learning session like this.
Introduction to Backyard Birding has been scheduled for the evening of April 29. It will begin at 6:30 pm, and will be taking place at 1587 Boston Post Road. Get a Free Quote for Print
