As the season changes from fall to winter, the birds that call Milford home are adapting to the cold, and during a walk hosted by The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Coastal Center, the public will learn more about their feathered friends.
Carol Kratzman, who is both a naturalist and a teacher, will lead a small group for an exploration of Milford Point. The participants will observe how the site changes from season to season, and there will also be tips shared that can help them to become better birders.
The group will stop by the marsh to see what sorts of species can be found there, and it will then move on to the woodlands and finally the shoreline. They will discuss the plants, birds and other animals they spot along the way, and will learn how to make the best use of their binoculars. Masks are mandatory, and participants will be asked to maintain proper social distancing.
Attending an event like this gives those who are interested in birding a chance to hone their skills. Offering each a notebook and promotional Pens printed with the host organization’s Logo Design will make it easy to record any notes they wish to make.
This Birding 101 Walk will be offered on December 12 at 1 Milford Point Road. The registration fee is $15 for members, while non-members will be asked to pay $20.
