Woodland Hills to hold geographic data workshop

Woodland Hills residents should note that Skill Sharp will host a GIS with ArcGIS Training Course for Beginners Workshop in town next month.

Skill Sharp is an online training platform that prides itself on providing quality instruction in the latest technologies and staffing dedicated and experienced teachers to lead those courses. December’s workshop will be a 16-hour beginner course in GIS (geographic information systems) happening over four weekends to provide flexibility for students

The GIS course will utilize ArcGIS technology, which was developed by Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute) to provide online GIS services, client software, and server software. The workshop is specifically designed for those with no experience in GIS but who would like to gain a working knowledge of the subject and even embark on a GIS career. Some topics that will be discussed are creating GIS maps, visualizing spatial data, classifying geospatial datasets, and understanding basic functionality of the GIS software suite.

The classes will include training materials, handouts, cloud resources, and real-life scenarios to learn from. Educational workshops like this often employ local brochure printing services to help create the necessary instructional materials.

The 16-Hour GIS with ArcGIS Training Course for Beginners is scheduled to run from December 4 through December 26 at the Upskill Institute in Woodland Hills. Class registration has been discounted to $97. For more information, visit the Skill Sharp website.
