Seattle zoo to host half-century event

Woodland Park Zoo is hosting its 50th anniversary event in July in the zoo's north meadow area.

The jungle party's theme is "Voices of the Wild," which pays mind to the human responsibility to nature and recognizes people who have created lasting conservation change.

Hosted by chair members Rick and Monica Rasmussen, Mary Blodgett, and Jill Walker, this year's Jungle Party will include both live and silent auctions as well as up-close encounters with some of the zoo's animals. There will also be a gourmet dinner and an open bar, tended to by local vintners and chefs.

This is a fundraising event with the 2026 goal being $2.1 million. Funds raised not only go toward helping the zoo's animals, but also help create learning experiences for people of all ages, build sustainability programs, and ensure inclusivity and accessibility for many of the families in the community.

Woodland Park Zoo has been in operation for more than 120 years, and that is largely thanks to its corporate and individual sponsors. Companies may be recognized by their brand Letterheads on the sponsorship pages. Those who are interested in sponsoring the event can do so at a variety of price points, starting at $7,500. Susan Bell, the zoo's corporate engagement officer, can help potential sponsors get started and can be reached at 206-548-2439.

The anniversary event at the zoo is set to take place on Friday, July 10.
