In a special ceremony held at the fire house, CITA Insurance Services, on behalf of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, awarded the station a $5,000 grant.
The money will be used to purchase two items intended to keep the firefighters at peak response readiness. On the health side, a cutting-edge treadmill will be purchased for use by station house personnel. The remainder of the $5,000 will be used to keep the company’s equipment performance-ready, with the purchase of a welder for tool repair at the fire house.
The Fireman’s Fund is a nationwide philanthropic program that has made more than 2,100 grants to various organizations, totaling $31m since 2004.
Karen Wagener, from the LAFD Foundation, commended the Fireman’s Fund and CITA Insurance Services for their support. Quoted on the Canyon News website, she stated:
“By remaining healthy and safe, firefighters can better protect the community. A firefighter’s job is very strenuous and we’re committed to helping them maintain healthy lives and staying physically fit throughout their careers.”
Whether it’s the owner of a shop that offers printing services or the owner of a Woodland Hills home, every resident counts on a quality response from firefighters during an emergency.
