Beginning next month, Dr. Michelle Morrissey of The Morrissey Institute will host a virtual EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy training for mental health professionals working in clinical settings.
The Morrissey Institute is a family-owned and operated business that provides individual therapy, family therapy, and EMDR therapy services. EMDR is a type of psychotherapy that uses the recollection of past experiences and sets of bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movement, to help patients desensitize and reprocess trauma. It is used in disorders ranging from PTSD to depression.
Dr. Michelle Morrissey will offer a Zoom training in EMDR for licensed mental health providers and medical doctors with a specialty in psychiatry. The training will be separated into two separate weekend workshops, one in April and the other in June. The workshops include lectures, demonstrations of techniques, and supervised practice. Ten hours of consultation will also be required in the training, but this will need to be completed outside the virtual workshop through phone or GoToMeeting.
The first weekend of the EMDR training is scheduled for April 16 through 18, and the second will be June 11 through 13. The Morrissey Institute’s website can provide further information about the event.
