Urban Plates now open in Woodland Hills

Urban Plates, a fast-casual restaurant, recently opened a new location in Woodland Hills, according to an article in the Los Angeles Daily News.

The restaurant offers ethically reared and produced beef, chicken, and seafood, which it obtains from sources within 20 miles. It makes almost everything it serves from scratch.

Urban Plates offers an old concept that is suddenly new again: the cafeteria line, but this is not the cafeteria people know from school, where a limited number of already-prepared items were set out. Instead, diners at Urban Plates stop at various stations, where chefs prepare a large range of foods to order. Among the choices are various salads, sandwiches carved by hand, side dishes, and desserts.

Other menu selections include the “braises and stews” category, which includes a vegetarian curry; and the “urban plates” station, which offers healthy choices like baked chicken, steak, and salmon. In fact, one of the chain’s goals is to make certain most of their menu items are healthy and organic. One of its best sellers is Brussels sprouts, which it sautés to order along with garlic, turkey, bacon, and roasted onions.

The restaurant has introduced several new items at Woodland Hills, including organic tuna poke, salmon, and tuna bowls, crafted by chefs.
