Fundraiser scheduled for Woodland Hills boys' home

The Pacific Lodge Boys' Home in Woodland Hills is preparing for its annual Autumn Lunch, which is coming up in a couple of weeks.

For the past four years, the event has been organized and facilitated by Maggie Brammel, and is the home’s biggest fundraiser. The event features not only delicious food, but entertainment, raffles, and a silent auction. This year, singer Catherine McClenahan will entertain, accompanied by pianist Bob Remstein, and the PLYS band. The high point of the event is when the boys read their poems, which will be published in a local paper.

The home was founded in 1923 near Pomona, and was relocated to Woodland Hills in 1927, when Milo Bekins, of the Bekins Moving & Storage Company, deeded land there to the organization. The facility houses 51 young men, ages 13 to 18, who are facing a number of challenges.

The administering agency is Pacific Lodge Youth Services (PLYS), while at the lodge itself, a highly-trained, professional staff provides around-the-clock services and specialized programs to help the youngsters deal with the difficulties they are facing.

The Autumn Lunch is slated for November 7, a Saturday, from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm. The lodge is located at 4900 Serrania Avenue in Woodland Hills.

Event organizers might like to have Banners created to hang throughout the facility to celebrate the event and add color at the same time.
