Fry's, the electronics warehouse, is now offering same-day delivery services to customers in Orange and Los Angeles counties.
The service started in the middle of this month, and is being handled by Deliv, which also handles deliveries on behalf of the likes of PetSmart, Kohl's, and Macy's.
In Los Angeles County, Fry's has stores in Woodland Hills as well as Manhattan Beach, the City of Industry, and Burbank. The electronics giant has stores in Anaheim and Fountain Valley in Orange County.
Deliv's CEO and founder, Daphne Carmeli, said Amazon has been the driver for the entire retail industry, and has continuously raised the bar for customer service. Thanks largely to the e-retail giant, customers now expect to have products delivered the same day they buy them. In order to remain competitive, Fry's has to offer the same service, and speed of delivery has become a battleground among retailers.
Fry's said that over 90% of its products are eligible for delivery hours from the time they're purchased, plus approximately 1,000 items qualify for free delivery, as do orders over $49. For all other items, Fry's is charging an introductory fee of $4.99 for the delivery. Items that weigh more than 50lb do not qualify for the same-day service.
Companies offering new services can work with postcard printing companies to announce their intentions.
