In early June, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will host the D-Day Memorial Poker Run in Woodland Hills to raise funds for veterans in need.
Founded in 2001, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is composed of military veterans dedicated to supporting other veterans by ensuring that veteran-run facilities are able to provide, shelter, food, and other assistance to veterans. The organization also acts as a “welcome home” party supporting military members when they return home from duty. One of its fundraising events is the annual D-Day Memorial Poker Run benefiting local veterans’ organizations.
The poker run will be a motorcycle ride in which participants must visit five to seven checkpoints and draw a playing card at each one. Purely a game of chance and timing, the goal of the poker run is to end with the best poker hand at the end. Besides the motorcycle ride, the event will also feature vendors, food booths, and a raffle to win prizes and Promotional Products. Live entertainment will be provided by the band Sound Investment.
The D-Day Memorial Poker Run is slated for June 5, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The start and finish of the ride will be at the Disabled American Veterans Hall on 6543 Corbin Avenue. Single rider tickets are $20, while double rider tickets are $30.
