Amazon’s new grocery store has occupied the space between a bank and a nail salon in the neighborhood of Woodland Hills.
The company’s grocery store chain is close to opening, but it has yet to disclose how the food will be sold in its facility. Based on the photos, there are numerous empty aisles standing in wait for the next shipment of rice, pasta, and canned vegetables. On the backside, there is a spacious area saved for the supermarket itself. Right now, a meat section and a seafood counter are set up in one corner.
The other corner has a Fresh Kitchen area to stock processed foods and soup cans. This new chain will add a high volume of products from Coca-Cola to Smucker’s jam; items not available at Whole Foods. The store center is going to be filled with shelves for Amazon Books and convenient items found on its 4-Star stores, using digital tags to change prices and rotate the inventory to present their new offerings. A window for pick-up orders and customer returns is being built, though cashierless systems are out of the question.
Moreover, a delivery service is making its rounds to people’s homes from the facility. Right now, Amazon has no plans to reinvent food retailing. What the store does have is the choice to order items online using its smartphone app. Promotional Products can serve as samples for retail chains like Amazon.
Amazon has not announced an exact opening date for its grocery store.
