The annual Fourth of July Celebration and the CreekWalk Concert Series will be returning to Andrews Park in Vacaville this summer.
Melody Ocampo, recreation supervisor for the city, said that there will be eight CreekWalk concerts on Fridays during the months of July and August. Such events are often promoted throughout a city with poster printing services. The park will be set up with 150 pods and a maximum of five people from a single household per pod. Social distancing and masking guidelines will need to be followed. People interested in attending these concerts will need to pre-register.
Ron Rowlett, mayor of Vacaville, expressed his support for holding both events at Andrews Park. He recommended waiving the entrance fee of $3 for the concerts to encourage more people to attend.
Councilman Roy Stockton added that holding both the celebration and the concerts will help to draw businesses to the downtown area, and improve the economy there. He added that there are many places on Main Street for purchasing food and viewing the fireworks on July Fourth. He also suggested opening some of the properties owned by the city along East Main Street to increase the viewing opportunities.
It was suggested by Councilman Jason Roberts to inquire about opening up Vacaville High School’s stadium to offer another place for viewing the fireworks.
