The annual Festival of Trees is currently underway in Vacaville. This is the 20th year of the event, which will be online.
The Festival is a fundraiser for Opportunity House, the homeless shelter in the city, and will feature close to three dozen fully decorated Christmas trees of all sizes that will be auctioned off and sold to the highest bidder. The trees will be displayed in storefronts and windows around Vacaville so that residents can see them. The online auction site will also have photographs of the trees and detailed descriptions. The site will be accessible by desktop computers, television, mobile devices, and tablets.
Opportunity House will also be holding its Cookies for a Cause bake sale. There will also be frozen balls of cookie dough in special flavors and baskets of baked goods as part of the Festival of Treats. Events such as this one often turn to poster printing to promote themselves and their fundraising efforts during the holiday season.
This year’s Festival represents a return of the annual event to its beginnings. There was a single storefront on Main Street with 35 trees, and the fundraiser took in $8,800 for the homeless shelter which was new at the time. Since then, nearly $2.5m from the event has been raised for the shelter.
The Festival of Trees will run until Thursday, December 3.
