Vacaville rotary gets new leadership for the upcoming year

The officers of the Vacaville Rotary Club were recently installed for the new year. P.J. Goodson, owner of The Landmark Image, became the new president.

Goodson commented that she is looking forward to holding the signature events of the club, such as the Poker and Golf Tournaments that provide funds for many non-profit organizations and scholarships for students in the community. A maternity health project in Kenya will be this year’s international project.

Goodson added that she has plans for a new event for next year – the inaugural Hot Air Balloon Fest that will raise awareness about mental health in the county and involve the engagement of all people in the community. There will also be a special focus this year on mentoring at-risk students who need resources and some assistance to be successful.

Events such as these often rely on poster printing for advertising and promoting themselves.

Also serving on the Executive Board along with Goodson will be Barton Brierly, president-elect; Secretary Jan Larsen, Treasurer Milton Steck, sergeant at arms John Shelby, and past president Shawn Paschal.

The Vacaville Rotary Club was chartered in 1944 and is part of the Rotary International organization. It has close to 100 members, awards over $40,000 in scholarships to seniors from high school each year, and hosts the annual Vacaville City Spelling Bee.
