The Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant Program of California will be awarding a grant of $6.7m to the city of Vacaville.
These funds will come through the California State Parks department and will be used for a parcel of land measuring 2.68 acres along Brown Street. The project will include the construction of a Community Center to span 2,500 square feet and an outdoor recreation facility which will include a basketball court, a natural grass field, a tot-lot (children’s play area) and playground, a walking and jogging trail loop around the perimeter of the park, public art, and a performance stage. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such plans and their amenities.
Mayor Ron Rowlett said this is great news for residents of the city. He said that this project will increase inclusion and equity in the neighborhood with a state-of-the-art community center and space outdoors using grant funds to enable this project to be built. Emily Cantu, Director of Housing and Community Services, expressed her thrill that this project, describing it as a “great win.”
Vibe Solano, Vacaville Youth REACH Coalition, Vacaville Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club, and the California Department of Parks and Recreation partnered with the city to facilitate the project as part of the Brown-Markham Neighborhood Public Recreation Improvements Plan.
