Bach in the Subways will be returning to Vacaville later this month.
This will be part of an international event where the music of Bach will be performed in public spaces by musicians around the world. The students of Alina Adams, a local violinist, will also be performing in this event. Such special performances are often promoted throughout a city and the neighboring communities with poster printing.
Adams founded her own music studio and began taking her students to Nut Tree Plaza in 2019. Over the past two years, the event took place online but has been able to return to an in-person event this year. Adams said that her students are happy to be playing in person for this event.
Bach in the Subways began in New York City in 2010 when Dale Henderson performed the Cello Suites of Bach in the subway to enable an appreciation of the composer’s music. The next year, Henderson invited others to join him and five years later the event spread throughout the world to 40 countries and 150 cities.
Keith Moriwaki will also be performing with Adams at the event. Moriwaki is her partner in the violin duo, Empiriani. Bach in the Subways will take place in the breezeway at Nut Tree Plaza on Saturday, March 26 at 2:30 pm.
