LG Chem is a chemical company that is a biotechnology business unit of LG Group. LG Group is a conglomerate in South Korea that is known in the United States for its home appliances. LG Group has three business units, of which biotechnology is one of them.

Aaron Busch, city manager, said that LG Chem is currently considering its plans and details for the parcel. He added that the city will be able to assist LG Chem with its Biotechnology Fast Track permitting program which will enable the company to get the property operational as soon as possible and to connect them to the resources needed to be a successful business in Vacaville.

The effort of the city to attract LG Chem has been supported by the Office of Business and Economic Development of the Governor’s Office. Vacaville has shown that over the past three years the city has the assets to be able to recruit biomanufacturing companies. The investment by LG Chem in the city will help to attract more medical device, instrumentation, and biomanufacturing firms and strengthen the biotechnology industry in the city.
