The campaign will begin with two separate events in October and November, which will be hosted at every Target store nationwide. The first event will be held on October 11 to 13, and the second will be November 2 to 3. Visitors to the stores on those days are likely to see stalls with poster printing that encourages people to sign up to become seasonal workers.
Every new hire will receive a minimum of $13 per hour. Target’s management is confident that the demand for new labor is founded because forecasters are predicting a busy holiday shopping season this year.
Melissa Kremer, who is Target’s chief human resources officer, said in a statement:
“It’s critical we build the right team across our stores and supply chain to deliver an exceptional holiday experience for our guests during the busiest time of the year.”
Target hired approximately 120,000 seasonal employees in 2018. Around 7,500 new hires were also placed at its fulfillment and distribution centers, 40% of whom ended up staying with Target beyond the holiday season. In addition to the hourly wage, new hires at Target will be able to enjoy 10% off all purchases from Target, holiday pay for working over Christmas and Thanksgiving, flexible work schedules, and on-the-job training.
