Orange County to submit plans to get back to business

Governor Gavin Newson has given California counties a little bit of leeway to relax the pandemic-related restrictions and Orange County is working to lift those restrictions as soon as possible.

Officials hope that businesses located in Orange County cities such as Tustin can reopen sooner rather than later. Health officials are calling this stage of reopening Phase 2. County officials realize that they may not meet all of the requirements for reopening, but they will be able to send in a plan that will hasten the process. Supervisor Don Wagner said:

“To the extent that perfect is the enemy of good, we don’t want to let that happen. If we need to supplement, let’s supplement. Let’s open as much as possible. Let’s open as soon as possible. Let’s open as safely as possible.”

The new rules for whether a county will be able to open depend on whether the number of COVID-19 cases in the area remains below a certain level. According to Governor Newson, the relaxed rules would allow 53 of the 58 counties in California to move on to Phase 2. Large and urban counties welcomed the news about relaxed restrictions. Poster printing can be used to inform people about new rules.

Supervisor Lisa Bartlett feels that it is extremely important for Orange County to submit its plan for reopening as soon as possible in order to avoid a longer wait.
