Movie theaters all over Orange County are ready to start taking patrons after keeping their doors closed for six months.
Regal Cinemas and AMC led the way by opening up some of their larger locations in cities such as Tustin. The decision to open theatres came right after Orange County’s status was upgraded in the state’s system for monitoring the risk of spreading COVID. Theaters, churches, and other types of businesses will now be able to continue offering indoor services as long as they keep to the guidelines. Movie lovers are likely to see more poster printing for their favorite flicks in the coming months.
Capacity in these indoor businesses will be limited to 25% of normal capacity or 100 people. Zoos, aquariums and museums are able to operate under the same restriction. Gyms are limited to 10%.
The movie theaters in particular will need to be vigilant about their safety protocols. Guests at the theaters are required to wear masks unless they are drinking or eating, and groups will have to leave at least two empty seats between each other. People will be able to buy their concessions using a mobile application, although there will be a reduced number of offerings on the menu and self-service stands for condiments are closed.
The AMC locations that are open are located in Anaheim and Tustin. Some of the movies that were on-screen include “Tenet,” “The New Mutants,” and “Broken Hearts Gallery.”
