Two runs help maintain state park

This weekend, Santa Rosa locals can enter one of two races that will help keep Annadel State Park beautiful.

The Annadel Half Marathon is a challenging scenic course that begins at the swimming lagoon at Spring Lake and goes along trails and through Annadel State Park. The 5K also begins at the lagoon.

Registration costs $85 for the half marathon and $45 for the 5K, although those who registered before April 4 paid discounted prices. Registration includes chip timing, a T-shirt, athletic backpack, and snacks. The half marathon registration also includes a post-race meal.

Pre-race packet pickup takes place today, April 10, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm at Fleet Feet Sports, located on 111 Third Street. To help inform Santa Rosa about the races, a flyer printing service has probably created a handout for the store to distribute to its customers.

The event will help raise money to maintain trails in Annadel State Park, and also create new trails at Taylor Mountain Regional Park.

Race-day registration will take place tomorrow, April 11, from 7:15 am until 7:45 am. The half marathon kicks off at 8:00 am with the 5K following at 8:15 am. Spring Lake Regional Park is located on 393 Violetti Road. Parking costs $7, or is complimentary for those with a Sonoma County Regional park pass.
