April brings with it the arrival of spring and a new gardening season, and an event has been planned for the area with Santa Rosa home gardeners in mind.
A workshop will introduce hobby horticulturalists to the joys of growing succulents indoors or out, with many species and cultivars to choose from. The function will include a plant swap so everyone can go home with some green fiends, and it will be a free activity.
The function will open with some care tips and other remarks from a master gardener, who will discuss how they can be a good choice for low-water gardening. Everyone is encouraged to bring along slips or cuttings of any succulents they would like to trade, and they will have a chance to go home with some new ones to try. They can also meet others who are interested in growing them.
Plants help to bring life into a home, and attending a class will make it easier to care for them so they can grow and thrive. Handouts for a workshop can be prepared by a locally based brochure printing company.
The Petaluma Regional Library has scheduled this introduction to the joys of succulents on April 2nd. It will start at 10:00 am, and all ages and levels of experience are welcome to be a part of the activity.
