SRJC schedules second annual Wine Classic

Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) has set the date for its annual Wine Classic, which will be held on the Santa Rosa campus at the Lawrence A. Bertolini Student Center.

The event provides attendees with an opportunity to sample more than 50 wines from 30 Sonoma County wineries as they mingle and enjoy live music and a buffet of gourmet appetizers. The three-hour event provides the college’s Wine Event Planning class a chance to practice what they have learned in class.

In addition to the practical experience, the Wine Classic also gives the students a chance to practice networking. According to Brad Davis, SRJC Manager of Workforce Training and Instructional Partnership, at last year’s event, some attendees interacted with students, asking about their studies and what their after-college aspirations were. This presented students with an opportunity to present and receive digital Business Cards.

The event takes place February 21 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Tickets are $75 each and only available to those 21 years or over. Included in the ticket price is a souvenir wine glass. Money raised by the event is used to fund the school’s Wine, Culinary Arts, and Hospitality programs and scholarships. Last year the event sold out and raised over 30,000.

The Honorary Co-Chairs for the 2016 SRIC Wine Classic are Gaye LaBaron and Chef John Ash.
