SOFA Santa Rosa shows off summer schedule

The Santa Rosa South ‘A’ Street Arts District is comprised of galleries, artists, and businesses who work together to bring visibility and appreciation to performing and visual arts in the area. Over 40 artists have studios in the district and many spring and summer events have been scheduled.

The third Thursday of every month has been designated as the SOFA Stroll continuing now through the end of November. Artists welcome the public into their studios between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm to visit and view the displays. Meeting the artists puts a personal touch to the art and many restaurants offer specials during these evenings as well.

The MATSURI is scheduled for June 1 and will feature the annual arts festival specializing in Japanese culture and food. It will take place in Julliard Park, as well as within participating SOFA studios.

The ARTWALK will take place August 3 and 4 and is a weekend long celebration of the art studios and the work created by the various artists.

Local printing companies often assist the artists with collateral to help market their art and events. Flyer printing is a common project so the artists have material to distribute prior to the event, as well as at the door. Business card printing is a standing order too, as cards are frequently given out to visitors as well as in marketing packets.
