Pressing flowers is a way for people to preserve the beauty of summer blossoms, and a Santa Rosa workshop will provide an introduction to the hobby.
The Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation has scheduled a class that will introduce techniques used for pressing flowers for future use, and Jan Lochner, who has been enjoying the pastime for many years, will share her expertise. Tickets are available for $35, and they include the instruction as well as any materials used to complete the projects.
During the function, the group will craft bookmarks and fridge magnets using the flowers, and they will also learn basic pressing techniques that can be used with blossoms such as pansies, clematises, and wild roses. The activity is suitable for those age eight and up, but minors must be accompanied by an adult. The workshop will run for three hours, and everyone will go home with a completed project they have made on their own.
For any class that offers an opportunity to learn new skills, Letterheads and other business Forms for the host of an event will be available at area printers.
This introduction to the art and science of pressing flowers will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 27. It is expected that seats will fill up fast, so those interested are advised to sign up quickly and can do so via Eventbrite.
