Residents of Santa Rosa are invited to honor family members and friends who have passed away at a traditional Meso-American festival called Dia de los Muertos – or Day of the Dead.
Not to be confused as just a “Mexican Halloween”, Dia de los Muertos celebrates both death and the cycle of life, and had been a tradition in Mexican, Central, and South American countries dating back to the 1800s. The festival itself can trace it roots back to the ancient cultures of the Mixtec, Zapotec, Aztec, and Maya for 3,000 years.
Santa Rosa's part in the history of the Day of the Dead only spans around two decades – it started in 2001 - but in those years the festival has become an event that welcomes all cultures.
Far from being a somber occasion, past festivities in Santa Rosa have included Azteca dance groups, drumming, and food, making it a celebration of life. Printing services are particularly useful for events such as these for schedules, Flyers, and poster printing.
Day of the Dead is an alcohol-free event, and is free and open to the public. In countries that observe it, Dia de los Muertos takes place on All Souls Day and All Saints Day.
The Day of the Dead festival takes place Friday, November 1, and Saturday, November 2 at Santa Rosa Courthouse Square, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on both days.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
