Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be used every day in a variety of real world applications, and during a Santa Rosa event, members of the public will be offered a chance to learn more about this technology and how it can be used.
The event, which has been planned as a showcase of the technology, will be facilitated by experts in the field. There will be demonstrations of how it is used to create maps, Posters, and more, and there will also be presentations and hands-on activities. The public will be able to learn how this information is taught to schoolchildren as part of the curriculum, and all are welcome.
The organizers noted that, due to its popularity in previous events, the Interactive Area will also be back. This will include live demonstrations of GIS technology using such platforms as Minecraft, AR Sandbox, and an assortment of other activities that have been chosen to be both fun and educational. Informational Brochures and other materials for a day of learning such as this can be sourced form an area printing services company.
This day of family friendly appreciation for the GIS community has been planned for November 15 in Santa Rosa’s Finley Community Center. It is being offered free of charge, and more information can be found on the North Bay GIS User Group website.
