Santa Rosa prepares for the fair

The residents of Santa Rosa and nearby areas are in the midst of the Sonoma County Fair. The two-week event brings games, competition, and fun rides to people of all ages.

The fair features a traditional carnival including rides and games of chance. The carnival is being put together by Helm and Sons and will have both a children’s and adults’ section. This year, the group is offering tickets at just half the price of previous years.

Additionally, several stages are set up on the fairgrounds featuring a variety of local artists and entertainers alongside major names, such as Ozomatli, Cassadee Pope, and Aaron Tippin. The fair will also feature several contests, including an Elvis Impersonator Contest, a Movie Musical Singing Contest, and exhibit competitions for gardening, hobbies, livestock, and art.

This year will also feature horse racing and dog racing. Many ad specialties are being offered for people who purchase tickets in the advance for the various aspects of the fair.

The Sonoma County Fair began on July 22 and is being held every day through August 7 between 11:00 am and 11:00 pm at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, located at 1350 Bennett Valley Rd. General admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children, with additional costs for rides, food, and some concerts. Anyone interested in tickets or more information should visit the website.
