Santa Rosa offered spots in plant walk

Sonoma County is home to a diverse range of plant species, and these will be the stars of the show for an outing at a park near Santa Rosa.

Mid-February will see a group of nature lovers take to the trails at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, and staff member Desi Harp and certified California naturalist John Lynch will serve as the guides for the hike. It will follow a three-mile route, and the activity will take approximately two and half hours to complete.

Participants will walk through a variety of plant habitats, and both riparian and hillside ecosystems, as well as a meadow, will be visited. As they go, the group will learn about the various wildflowers they find and how they were used traditionally for food, medicine, and other purposes. Those taking part are asked to meet up at the venue’s Visitor Center, and suitable clothing and bottled water are highly recommended.

A guided walk can make learning about nature accessible to many, and a poster printing company can be helpful in getting the word out. It can work with any graphic design provided, or its staff can prepare one from scratch.

This opportunity to learn about the value of plants in the Santa Rosa area is scheduled for Saturday, February 17. It will head out at 10:00 am.
