Santa Rosa counts itself lucky to be surrounded by lots of wild spaces, and a hike will soon pay a visit to one of these areas.
The Goodspeed Trail will be the route followed by the participants in the Knock Your Socks Off wildflower hike that will welcome spring. Certified CA Naturalist John Lynch will be sharing his love of native wildflowers, and the excursion promises to offer some attractive views.
Hikers will follow the trail along the Sonoma Creek as it makes its way through the redwoods, and after this, they will head uphill to a sunny location filled with flowers where butterflies are often spotted. All ages are welcome and a small fee will be charged. Those under 12 and Sugarloaf members may participate for free, and everyone is reminded to wear appropriate shoes and bring water, sun protection, and their phone or camera.
A guided nature hike can spark an interest in conservation among those who take part. Basic field guides that may help the hikers to identify the plants and animals they spot can be prepared by Stationery printers.
This visit to one of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park’s trails will bring people into one of the Santa Rosa area’s wild spaces on Saturday, May 4. Passes may be reserved by visiting the Visit Santa Rosa website.
