Santa Rosa fair celebrates harvest

Residents in Santa Rosa are looking forward to this year’s Sonoma County Harvest Fair. Bringing together the best in local vineyard and farming traditions, the three day event features tastings, competitions, activities, and more.

Currently in its 42nd year, the festival has been voted the best annual festival in Sonoma County. The central hub of the proceedings will be the Grand Harvest Tasting Pavilion which will feature over 100 different wineries in the region offering samples of their different varietals this year. The professional cooking and restaurant competition will also have food on offer in the pavilion, providing unique pairings of gourmet food and wine every day.

Additionally visitors can sign up for the On-the-Spot Grape Stomp Competition, joining a team and experiencing the classical wine creation method of grape stomping. Attendees can also buy a pumpkin at the Pumpkin Patch, launch the Rotten Apple Catapult, or try their hand at Pumpkin Bowling. The Flyers also advertise live music by groups such as the Tahoes, Bruce Guynn and Big Rain, and Tom Leps and the Harvest Stompers Dixieland Band.

The Sonoma County Harvest Fair will take place from September 30 to October 2 at the Sonoma County Event Center, located at 1350 Bennett Valley Rd. Admission is $5 and participation in the Grand Tasting is $55. Anyone interested in more info should visit the website.
