Santa Rosa area workshop to feature fall foliage

Savvy gardeners know the value of choosing plants that offer four seasons of interest, and a Santa Rosa workshop will offer tips for filling a garden with fall color.

Bob Hornback, who is an award-winning gardener, will share his knowledge with the participants in a class held at Hidden Forest Nursery. It will be on offer outdoors so that everyone can view the plants in person, and they can ask questions and take any notes they wish.

The session will address how to choose species and cultivars that have been selected for their superior foliage characteristics, and it will be focused on shrubs and trees. Perennials may also be in the mix, and everyone can enjoy the presentation and see examples. After this, the group will walk through Hidden Forest Botanical Reserve so they can see them growing in the field. Everyone is asked to wear sturdy shoes with closed toes, and dressing in layers is advised.

A class or workshop may provide an introduction to a particular topic. Those who would like to do a deeper dive may appreciate receiving additional learning materials, and these can be sourced from local Stationery printers.

Tickets for the Planting for Fall Foliage activity are on offer now for $25 each. It will be held next Saturday, October 28, at 3970 Azalea Lane in Sebastopol.
