Parade and festival comes to Santa Rosa

Residents can soon head to downtown Santa Rosa for its much-loved annual spectacle.

The 121st Luther Burbank Rose Parade and Festival will feature floats, clowns, horses, and marching bands. Radio broadcasters will comment on each entry.

To support literacy and education, the 2015 theme for the event is ‘Out of a Storybook’ where characters and themes will be brought to life. The Santa Rosa Junior College President, Dr. Frank Chong, will be the Grand Marshall of the parade.

Sponsors will get the opportunity to participate in the parade as a clown. For a suggested $250, sponsors will be given a clown costume, a chance to be in the parade, a complimentary breakfast, and recognition.

After the parade, attendees can head over to the festival where there will be family friendly activities, food vendors, and music. It is likely a printing company was asked to make Banners to welcome people to the post-parade event.

Towards the end, there will be an awards ceremony for the best entries.

The parade will take place on May 16 from 10:00 am until noon. The parade will begin at Sonoma Avenue and E. Street and make its way through Downtown Santa Rosa.

The festival will be held from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Old Courthouse Square on Santa Rosa Avenue at 4th Street. For more information, call (707)523-3728.
