Mid-March run to keep Santa Rosa in shape

Santa Rosa Parks and Recreation is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day 5K.

Beginning and ending in Juilliard Park, the race will take participants onto the Prince Memorial Greenway. To prevent congestion, the event will have several different paces.

After the race, there will be a party with live entertainment, a costume contest, and giveaways. Individuals can also have their mug filled with root beer or, if they are 21 or older, beer.

Registration costs $40 or $45 on race day. Those under 18 will be given a $10 discount. With their registration, participants will be handed a goodie bag, a healthy snack, and a special mug. To promote the race and all its perks, no doubt the event organizers have utilized a flyer printing service to create handouts.

Gift cards will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers overall, and also the top three males and females in every age group.

All of the proceeds will go to help the Santa Rosa Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund. This program allows families to take part in the city’s recreational programs, such as swim lessons.

Prior to race day, bibs can be picked up on March 14 from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm at Fleet Feet Sports.

Participants should be ready to run on March 15 at 3:00 pm. It all takes place at Juilliard Park, located on 227 Santa Rosa Avenue.
