Santa Clara library helps residents get down to business

The Central Park Library in Santa Clara is preparing to start a five-part series to help residents start their own businesses.

Simple Steps for Starting Your Business is aimed at taking aspiring entrepreneurs through some of the things they need to know to get a company off the ground.

The series is designed to help attendees reach a decision point in creating a new startup. Each workshop includes homework assignments and the event is meant to work in conjunction with a mentor. The program is not designed to provide every single detail needed to start a business, but instead give the participants enough information to be able to decide for themselves whether their idea is viable enough to pursue.

The first part of the series is titled ‘Startup Basics’, and it focuses on the basics of testing a business plan and identifying the key factors that determine success for a new startup. The advantages and disadvantages of owning a business will be discussed, as well as the fundamentals of business formation and organization, how to use marketing services, and managing cash flow, and funding sources.

Simple Steps for Starting Your Business - Startup Basics will take place on March 30 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Redwood Room of the Central Park Library, located at 2635 Homestead Rd. The workshop is presented at no cost, though attendees must bring Pens and paper if they wish to take notes. Anyone interested can visit the website for more information.
