Last weekend saw the return of the Santa Clara County Fair, as it made its 2013 appearance at its traditional site in San Jose, running from August 1 through 4.
With poster printing clearly evident throughout the country in the run up to the event, and banner printing making the spectacle even more impressive, it is likely many folks stayed until the 9:00 pm finish.
Starting at 12:00 noon each day too, some folks may return to their offices a little tired this week.
As usual, the fair featured a great number of food booths, serving up tasty food and drink, and there were live music and carnival games to enjoy as well. Kids were also seen having a great time, with many of the little ones in particular enjoying the live animals.
One highlight of the show that went down particularly well was the FIDO 500. A mini dog race for breeds such as dachshunds, chihuahua and schnauzers, it ran three times a day to great appreciation. It also typified the show's theme for the year, which ran as 'Your Heart’s Delight'.
Taken from the history of the Santa Clara Valley as a big fruit producing and canning region, it was a play on the moniker of, 'The Valley of the Heart’s Delight', which the valley once had thanks to its rich agriculture
Final attendance figures were not yet available but, despite remaining a paid ticket event, organisers were hopeful of a strong turnout this year.
