In a recent ranking by Movoto, a real estate website, Santa Clara and San Mateo county were named two of the 10 best places to live in California.
Both counties were noted for having plenty of jobs, pleasant homes, and good median salaries. Cities that publish their real estate offerings with catalog printing could include findings like this on the cover art.
To determine the top 10 counties out of the 58 that make up California, Movoto went to the 2010 Census data. It examined factors such as unemployment rate, median household income, rent rates, home prices, the proportion of families living below the poverty line, and high school graduation rates. Each county was ranked 1 through 58 in each factor, and then the scores were averaged.
Marin County easily took first place in Movoto’s ranking, according to the website. As well as the numerical factors listed above, Movoto cited the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art and Muir Woods as additional features that make the county great.
Movoto also mentioned the natural beauty of the beaches and lighthouses in San Mateo county, as well as its economic and real estate numbers.
Santa Clara County, ranked #3, has the second highest income for a household, as well as a very low unemployment rate. Movoto also found commute times and home prices appealing, as well as the famous tech companies headquartered in the area.
