Residents run for education

Locals in and around Santa Clara can take part in a race that will benefit education.

The ‘Willow Glen 5K’ run and walk is on a flat, certified course that starts in downtown Willow and finishes at Willow Glen Elementary School.

After the race, attendees can check out the community festival, where there will be awards, sponsored booths, refreshments, and a pancake breakfast. Kids can enjoy an inflatable slide, games, and other activities.

With all the local businesses and organizations at the event, it is likely a business card printing service has been busy creating cards for companies to distribute.

Registration costs $30 for adults and $20 for teens and kids. Children, aged four and under, are free. Online registration ends on 11:59 pm on May 6. After this time, T-Shirts with registration are not guaranteed.

Pre-race packet pickup will take place on May 2 and May 3 from noon until 6:00 pm at the San Jose Swim and Racquet Club. Packets can also be picked up May 5 from 8:00 am until 10:00 am and from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Willow Glen Elementary School.

The 5K will begin at 9:00 am on May 9. Race day packet pickup and registration will take place from 7:00 am until 9:00 am. The race begins on Lincoln Avenue in San Jose.
