The Santa Clara Valley Wellness Foundation was recently presented with the Youth Opportunity Award from the Workforce Investment Board of Ventura County.
The award is given to a community organization that offers employment opportunities or internships that help to strengthen the workforce all over Ventura County.
The Foundation received this reward in recognition of the Dr. Sam’s Summer Health Internship program, a fact that can be added to its Brochures when it next update its materials with a printing company.
The internship is a six-week paid job through the summer at Santa Paula Hospital and Clinics, and is given to six juniors or seniors in high school. This year marks the third year of the annual program.
The organization is an expansion of the Santa Paula Hospital Foundation. It was formed in 1984 in an attempt to fund the Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, which closed just under two decades later. When the hospital was reopened in 2005 under the name the Ventura County Medical Center, the board chose to change the organization’s name and expand its mission. The Foundation now works to support a broad range of initiatives for healthcare in Santa Paula, Piru, and Fillmore.
The Workforce Investment Board works to help jobseekers and employers with services that develop the workforce in all areas of Ventura County. Get a Free Quote for Brochures
