Colorful event races into town

Northern California is about to get a little more colorful.

The Color Run is coming to San Jose, just a few miles away from Santa Clara.

The race is called the ‘Happiest 5K on the Planet’ and the nationwide event promotes health and wellness. The 2015 race has a ‘shine’ theme, with plenty of sparkling attractions. It’s likely a banner printing service was asked to make eye-catching Signs for the event.

The run is not timed, and its participants are covered with paint along the way. Runners are encouraged to wear a white shirt. The event will have prerace festivities such as music, dancing, and stretching.

Registration costs $50 for individuals and $45 for a team of four or more people, but participants do not have to have a full team to register. Registrants will receive a T-shirt, finishers’ medal, headband, and foil tattoos.

Registrants can check-in on May 21 and May 22 from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm at Kohl’s on 525 East Hamilton Avenue in Campbell.

Proceeds from the event will go to support The American Diabetes Foundation along with The Sharks Foundation, an organization designed to help underprivileged families.

The Color Run kicks off on May 23 at 8:00 am. The race will have waves of start times until 9:00 am. It all starts at the Arena Green East at Guadalupe River Park, located on 340 West St. John Street.
