A pair of charities with a focus on children and their education will be teaming up with a like-minded venue for an event Santa Clara residents are sure to enjoy in early September.
Kristi Yamaguchi’s Family Literacy Festival is an event in its second year. The experience includes hands-on crafts and activities, story time with authors and celebrity guests, mascots called Q and Sharkie, entertainment from Choo Choo Soul, and museum access.
Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream is joining forces with the San José Public Library Foundation and the Children’s Discovery Museum for the event, with the latter serving as the location/venue. An additional sponsorship is provided by PNC Bank. The hope of Always Dream is to make reading exciting and improve the early stages of literacy through the Always Reading Program. The program also aids children with confidence, dreaming, and discovery. While the Children’s Discovery Museum is aimed at kids, grownups will surely have a good time exploring with their little ones.
Attending the festival requires a ticket, which is sold through the CDM website. Cost is the same for kids and adults at $20, with infants being allowed a free entry. Flyer printing is often used for activities aimed at children, or events being held at museums. The experience will be open from 9:30am to 4:30pm on September 7th.
