What's Happening in Santa Clara, CA…

49ers make multiple donations to Labor Committees

The 49ers Football Team has been flexing its political influence in 2019 with $21,000 in donations made during the first six months of the year.

The committees that the 49ers contributed to and their corresponding amounts are:

- $10,000 to the Committee on Political Education
- $5,000 to the Bay Area Legislative Leaders PAC,
- $3,000 to the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce PAC,
- $1,500 to the Silicon Valley Organization PAC,
- $500 to Yes on Measure W

The only candidate that the team made a contribution to was Josh Becker’s bid for a Senate seat in 2020. Keen eyes will notice that most of the other donations were towards labor.
When asked about the donations, Ben Field, SBLC Executive Officer, said:

“The Niners contribution was not a major part our total fundraising. I suspect that they would like to improve their relationship with Labor, which Labor would like as well. We certainly have not refrained from fair criticism of the team.”

Questions are being asked about some of the organizations that the 49ers have chosen to support. Flyer printing can be used to inform interested parties of reasons behind decisions by any company.
The Santa Clara Chamber PAC, for example, has a had a dodgy performance lately and is currently under investigation. The Niners made a contribution to that PAC just a few days before the Chamber of Commerce Board decided not to deal with it any more.
